Get students excited about Shakespeare! First, they create a fun game using information provided in this pack. By creating and playing each other’s games, students learn about context and language while having fun. The more they play, the more they learn!
Next, students have a ‘soft’ introduction to Macbeth with the adapted script. It can be used for reader’s theatre or a short performance but one thing’s for sure – by the time they’ve read through this version, they will understand the main plot of Macbeth. Then, it’s time to move on to the original script for a deep dive into Shakespeare’s classic play.
I have used this many times with students from 11-18 and it is always successful. It takes the ‘scariness’ out of learning Shakespeare and students deeply engage with the original text as a result.
