Description
Get your students excited about Shakespeare from the very start of your unit! This PBL project for any Shakespeare work is always a hit with students. Not only do students learn many contextual factors to help them connect references in the play – they also have a foundation for deciphering the language. This project uses retrieval practice to prepare students for studying Shakespeare and the more they play their resulting games, the more they learn.

Use this project for before reviewing or exploring ANY Shakespeare text. In this authentic PBL, students design and create an online or offline game. It could be a board game (templates provided), or a different type. As they create and play, they build their knowledge of Shakespeare’s life and times and/or any Shakespeare text. Whether it’s a well-known play such as Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest or Othello or a lesser-known play such as The Winter’s Tale, Troilus and Cressida or Pericles, your students will love this approach.
