Description

Want your students to have meaningful and interesting discussions around their reading? This board game is one of the strategies that gets students talking in depth as they develop their critical literacy skills. It encourages students to think deeply about concepts related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

What’s unique about this activity?

  • Digital version included for online learning (via Google Slides)
  • Can be printed to play in person – A3 size recommended (ink-friendly format)
  • Engaging board game format that prompts students’ critical literacy
  • Just set the timer at the start of the game and students play until the time limit is reached – no early or late finishers
  • Students have choice in the questions they answer, including their starting point and which direction they move in
  • Includes questions to raise students’ critical literacy around ideas such as windows and mirrors
  • Can be edited by inserting text boxes over the existing questions (NB it is not possible to edit the existing text)
  • Intentionally uses a dyslexia-friendly font

I always collect feedback from my students so we can continue to build our learning experiences together. Some of their verbatim comments from our Google Form feedback:

The board game was fun and interesting since it was a new experience of discussing about the book.”

“It was fun because we used the game so we were kind of playing and learning at the same time.”

“It was really fun, could make it longer.”
