For me, there’s nothing more important than an environment where students feel confident and safe. This follows from remembering what we’ve agreed to as a team. This back to school board game is designed to be used after initial classroom introductions. First, we discuss how we’ll interact and other important expectations (for all of us, including me!) I use it to review key items that I want students to remember as we move forward building our classroom culture and expectations. Research indicates students are more academically successful when there are clear expectations and they have a sense of belonging – it just makes sense. This game is part of building that status quo.
